Technical Editor IV

We are seeking an experienced Technical Editor IV to provide expert editorial support on complex, technical documents for federal and environmental projects. This role involves reviewing, revising, and ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of technical reports and deliverables. You will work remotely, collaborating with authors, project managers, and reviewers to maintain high-quality outputs for government and environmental clients. The ideal candidate has strong editorial expertise, a background in technical or government contract work, and the ability to manage multiple assignments independently while meeting deadlines.

• Accountabilities:
• Conduct thorough editorial reviews and revisions of technical deliverables, including environmental investigation, restoration, and construction reports.
• Ensure documents are clear, concise, logically organized, and consistent with project-specific and organizational standards.
• Verify grammar, spelling, acronyms, abbreviations, and citations.
• Review and confirm the accuracy of cross-references, tables of contents, appendices, and figures.
• Ensure client comments are accurately incorporated and deliverables meet quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with authors, project managers, and editorial leads to coordinate workloads and resolve queries.
• Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional writing/editing experience.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Ability to work independently with limited guidance and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and professional communication skills.
• Experience following style guides, internal editorial manuals, and project-specific guidance.
• U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract involvement.
• Ability to pass an editorial test as part of the interview process.
• Preferred: prior experience as an editor in the environmental industry or as a government contractor.
