Stream Restoration Engineer/Designer

This role plays a pivotal part in designing and executing complex stream and ecological restoration projects, ensuring environmental compliance and technical excellence. The position involves providing expert technical guidance, reviewing and approving project deliverables, and supporting regulatory and contractual negotiations. The ideal candidate collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, mentors junior engineers, and leads innovative design initiatives to improve environmental outcomes. With a focus on both technical rigor and client engagement, this role provides high visibility and impact within project execution and strategic planning. • Lead and provide final technical advisement, review, and approval of complex environmental and stream restoration project documents.
• Serve as a technical resource for high-complexity remedial designs, ecological restoration projects, and risk assessment management.
• Ensure project execution complies with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining technical integrity and adherence to HSSE standards.
• Mentor and provide regulatory and technical guidance to mid- and senior-level engineering staff.
• Contribute to client relations through proposal development, presentations, and active participation in client meetings.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvement and champion best practices across projects and operations.
• Support regulatory negotiations, contract discussions, and serve as a technical expert in compliance or legal matters.

• B.S. degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5–10+ years of environmental engineering experience; M.S. with 5+ years preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Expertise in stream restoration design, ecological restoration, and project management.
• Rosgen Level I–IV training with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on design experience.
• Strong skills in technical writing, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.
• Proven ability to prioritize complex tasks, make decisions independently, and provide leadership to engineering teams.
• Experience with project-related environmental analysis, site characterization, remediation programs, and design plan submittals.
