Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will play a critical role in architecting and building scalable infrastructure to transform large volumes of raw data into actionable insights. You will work closely with ML and autonomy teams to design robust data pipelines, discovery systems, and lineage tracking platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring engineers and guiding technical decisions. You will have the opportunity to influence core data architecture, improve data accessibility and reliability, and contribute to initiatives that power advanced machine learning applications in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

• Accountabilities
• Lead the development of scalable backend services for data discovery and data lineage systems.
• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, fostering professional growth.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align product design, project execution, and operational goals.
• Ensure high-quality, maintainable code that processes petabytes of data efficiently.
• Drive team timelines, roadmap deliverables, and project commitments to successful completion.

• Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a data engineer or data pipeline engineer.
• Strong development experience with Python and SQL.
• Expertise in AWS services (EKS, Lambda, ETL) and cloud-native data solutions.
• Experience designing and developing distributed systems.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, continuous delivery environment.
• Bonus experience: prior team management, infrastructure monitoring, cross-functional collaboration, autonomous vehicle data workflows.
