Senior Software Engineer, Backend

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing robust backend services and integrations that support healthcare operations at scale. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI, mobile, and clinical operations, to streamline workflows, optimize system performance, and ensure secure, reliable handling of sensitive data. Your work will directly impact patient care and operational efficiency, while enabling the company to scale its services nationally. You will take ownership of backend services, integrations, and system reliability, helping shape the engineering strategy for the future.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL databases.
• Architect and implement scalable integrations with third-party scheduling systems, EMRs, and other healthcare tools.
• Ensure system reliability, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Implement event-driven architectures for real-time data communication across systems.
• Build and maintain automated unit and integration tests to uphold code quality.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to handle high volumes and rapid growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and enhance integration performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and handle urgent production issues as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development expertise.
• Proficiency in Java and experience developing microservices using Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and third-party API integrations.
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization.
• Experience integrating with third-party systems, preferably in healthcare or clinical operations.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience in healthcare, biosensors, or related fields is a plus but not required.
