Principal AI/ML Platform Engineer

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade AI and ML platforms that power critical workflows and AI-driven products. You will be responsible for creating scalable, compliant, and high-performance AI/ML systems that directly impact business outcomes and operational efficiency. As the senior technical leader, you will set engineering standards, mentor teams, and drive adoption of cutting-edge AI techniques including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), advanced prompt engineering, vector search, and LLMOps. Your work will span internal operations, external-facing products, and the development of reusable AI/ML components to accelerate deployment across multiple business units. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic platform architecture, governance integration, and technical leadership in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

• Accountabilities
• Define and implement the technical vision and architecture for scalable, compliant AI/ML platforms.
• Build and operate core platform components, including data access pipelines, model registries, evaluation frameworks, vector databases, and agent frameworks for GenAI applications.
• Design, deploy, and optimize end-to-end ML/DL/GenAI infrastructure, including distributed training, feature engineering, model evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Implement production-grade AI/ML services and APIs for critical internal workflows and external-facing solutions.
• Ensure governance, security, and compliance are embedded into AI/ML pipelines, including bias detection, hallucination prevention, audit trails, and regulatory adherence (HIPAA, CLIA, FDA, GDPR).
• Lead and mentor engineers and data scientists, establishing best practices for reproducibility, observability, and responsible AI.
• Evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies, integrating new approaches such as foundation model fine-tuning, RAG, GenAI copilots, and federated learning into production platforms.

• Requirements
• 12+ years of experience in software, data, or AI/ML engineering, with at least 8 years focused on AI/ML systems at scale.
• Expertise in building production-grade ML/LLM platforms using cloud technologies (AWS preferred), Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, LangChain/LlamaIndex, Spark, MLflow, and vector databases.
• Proven experience with GenAI/LLM development: fine-tuning, RAG, prompt orchestration, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Strong knowledge of distributed architectures, AI/ML pipelines, and cloud-native platform design.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, LLM safety, explainability, drift detection, bias mitigation, and compliance-first engineering in regulated industries.
• Demonstrated ability to influence teams, set technical standards, and mentor engineers.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
