3D Design Engineer - Substation (Remote - US)

This role offers the opportunity to design and visualize complex renewable energy and substation projects, directly impacting the success of large-scale infrastructure initiatives. The 3D Design Engineer will create detailed 2D and 3D models, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support client-facing deliverables. You will lead multiple projects, mentor junior engineers, and help maintain high design standards while ensuring compliance with industry codes and safety regulations. Accountabilities:

• Develop multidisciplinary 2D and 3D designs supporting renewable energy and substation projects.
• Create accurate 3D models and renders to communicate complex installations to clients and stakeholders.
• Acquire and apply advanced knowledge of substation systems, transmission, and distribution equipment.
• Lead projects independently, managing multiple priorities and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards.
• Review and prepare project documentation for accuracy, compliance, and client presentation.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, particularly in 3D modeling and cross-discipline coordination.
• Support client interactions, including presenting designs and contributing to proposals for professional engineering services.
• Ensure adherence to company, industry, and jurisdictional safety codes and standards.

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Engineering, CADD, or a related field; Professional Engineering Licensure or EIT Certificate is a plus.
• 5+ years of hands-on engineering design experience, with demonstrated expertise in 2D/3D multidisciplinary design.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or equivalent design software (Plant3D, Bentley Substation, Siemens NX, Creo).
• Strong experience with 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings for client deliverables.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE) and substation or power delivery design.
• Ability to integrate design considerations across civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and time management for handling multiple projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting technical content to clients.
• Creative and analytical design mindset, with the ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
