At Metropolitan Veterinary Associates (MVA), we understand that oncology technicians play a vital role in delivering compassionate treatment, offering emotional support, and ensuring the best possible quality of life for their patients.

Our Mission

Our goal is simple but profound: to improve the lives of pets, their families, and our community by providing compassionate, high-quality specialty and emergency care. If you share our passion for animal well-being and collaborative teamwork, we’d love you to explore this opportunity.

Who We Are

  • We are a leading specialty and emergency hospital, housed in a state-of-the-art 25,000-square-foot facility equipped to handle a wide range of complex cases.
  • With 13 specialty departments, our team includes top experts in fields such as internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, and more, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.
  • Our culture is built on continuous learning, mentorship, and genuine support, which means you’ll have ample opportunities to expand your skills alongside leaders in the industry.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Oncology Technician at MVA, you will be at the heart of patient care, supporting both pets and their people often during challenging times. In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and administer chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive medications following strict safety protocols.
  • Monitor patients pre- and post-treatment, carefully tracking vital signs, potential side effects, and overall comfort.
  • Collaborate with oncologists and fellow technicians to develop and update personalized treatment plans, ensuring the highest standard of care.
  • Provide compassionate client communication, including education about treatment options, home care, and ongoing symptom management.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as blood draws, imaging (radiographs, CT, MRI), and sample collection for cytology or histopathology.
  • Support the emotional well-being of clients and team members, recognizing the sensitivity and challenges involved in oncology cases.

We don’t just get through the workday—we embrace the opportunities to provide life-changing care. You’ll be surrounded by professionals who share your commitment to excellence and genuine compassion for animals.

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following available schedules:

  • Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Compensation

  • Starting between $24.00-27.00/hour

What’s in It for You?

At MVA, we take care of our team in the same way we care for our patients—wholeheartedly. We offer:

  • Supportive culture with social events & team-building activities
  • Competitive paid time off & holiday pay
  • Career growth & training opportunities to help you advance your skills and knowledge supported by our dedicated Education and Development team.
  • 401(k) plan with a strong employer match
  • A workplace where you’ll feel valued, heard, and excited to come to work each day

We know changing jobs can be a big step. We treat every interview as confidential, and if you’d prefer an informal conversation first, we’re happy to do that. We genuinely love what we do and welcome the chance to share our passion with you!

  • 1+ years in a specialty, oncology, or high-volume veterinary setting
  • Holds a current CVT/LVT/RVT (or educational equivalency)
  • A strong understanding of chemotherapy safety protocols, including handling and administration
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in educating and supporting clients during stressful or emotional situations
  • Proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and anesthesia/monitoring
  • Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools (radiographs, CT, MRI) and laboratory procedures
