With ample financial backing and strong traction, we’re seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us on the ground floor and help bring ultra-modern transportation technology to market.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at GoodShip, you'll play a critical role in building our core platform from the ground up. You'll work in a small, fast-moving, and collaborative engineering team, with the autonomy to design, develop, and launch impactful features quickly. This is a high-ownership role for someone excited about solving real-world logistics problems at scale and shaping the future of freight-tech.

You Will

• Ship High-Impact Products
  Design and implement scalable systems and customer-facing features that move the business forward.
  

• Collaborate Closely
  Work side-by-side with product, design, and ops to understand customer needs and bring ideas to life with speed and precision.
  

• Set Engineering Standards
  Help define and uphold best practices in code quality, testing, infrastructure, and team collaboration as we scale.
  

• Think Full Stack
  Contribute across the stack—from building intuitive UIs to architecting performant backend systems and services.
  

• Leverage AI Tools Thoughtfully
  Use modern tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to speed up development and unlock new capabilities.

The Ideal Candidate

• Brings 5+ years of experience as a professional software engineer, including at least some experience in a fast-paced, product-focused startup environment.
  

• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership—driving architectural decisions and mentoring others.
  

• Skilled across both frontend and backend development, with a strong understanding of cloud-based architectures.
  

• Has a product mindset and the ability to balance speed, quality, and pragmatism in a rapidly evolving business.
  

• Brings a growth mindset and appetite for learning new tools, technologies, and customer problem spaces.
  

• Values ownership, empathy, and building inclusive, collaborative engineering culture.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in software development as part of a professional team.
  

• BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  

• Demonstrated technical leadership and strategic thinking on cross-functional teams.
  

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  

• Proficiency with modern AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT).
  

• Broad technical fluency across backend and frontend technologies, including API design, databases, and distributed systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience building enterprise SaaS products.
  

• Familiarity with freight, trucking, or logistics domains.
  

• Experience developing LLM-powered features.
  

• Hands-on with our stack or similar: AWS, JavaScript/TypeScript, GraphQL, React, PostgreSQL.
