High Throughput Screening Scientist

Overview

Excelsior Sciences of New York is transforming small molecule therapeutic drug discovery with the use of modular chemistry, to make better medicines fast. Excelsior's modular approach leverages smart blocks as the foundation of drug design and synthesis. Our smart blocks and proprietary methodologies enable chemistry that machines can do, rather than building machines that attempt to do chemistry as it is practiced today. By coupling our automated synthesis and testing, we can reduce the design-make-test-analyze cycle to two weeks. This rapid generation of high-quality data allows us to fully leverage AI/ML to create closed learning loops and conduct multiparameter optimization, resulting in better medicines, fast. Excelsior's operations are fully U.S.-based, as our automated approach enables us to onshore integrated drug discovery.

We are seeking a biology HTS scientist with a strong background in automation and small molecule profiling to join our team. This is a laboratory-based role to profile new leads and advance novel small molecule therapeutics across multiple modalities and disease areas. This role involves following SOPs, reagent preparation and operating the High Throughput Automated Screening Systems for lead discovery.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Independently execute and analyze biochemical and cell-based assays.
• Ensure the cell production of assay-ready cells.
• Prepare and maintain inventory of reagents and consumables
• Perform assays on automation platform
• Collaborate with scientists to adapt benchtop assays to fully automated workflows
• Contribute to assay development, experiment design, and problem solving
• Prepare data presentations and communicate findings to internal teams
• Document study protocols/findings and contribute to study report authorship.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards

Qualifications

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry or a related field.
• Experience: 1-2 years of relevant lab experience

Skills

• Expertise in cell line production and maintenance.
• Experience in cell-based and/or biochemical assays 
• Highly organized and ability to work cross-functionally on multiple pre-clinical project teams.
• Strong communication skills, collaborative team player with cross functional teams
• Expertise in small molecule screening and analysis
• Experience in data management and analysis
• Experience with liquid handlers or automation
• Proficiency in basic molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry methods

The salary range for this position is $90,000- $150,000 per year. The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as relevant experience, education, and skills. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off and other benefits.
