Skills
- React, Node.js and TypeScript for frontend development
- Experience building production services on AWS (ECS, ECR, CodeBuild, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)
- Familiarity with GraphQL and Ruby backend integrations (preferred)
- Knowledge of microservices, event systems (Kafka) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Solid software design, data structures, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with third-party APIs and libraries
- Practiced in code review, testing, and CI/CD workflows
- Ability to collaborate with data scientists, product, and operations
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support customer-facing applications used to request home and auto insurance quotes
- Migrate backend services from Scala to Ruby and consolidate/eliminate services for maintainability
- Support post-deployment fallouts and production incident remediation for released projects
- Evaluate operational feasibility and drive solution design from analysis through deployment
- Collaborate cross-team to deliver end-to-end insurance quote flow
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies
- Design, implement, document, and test backend services and frontend integrations
- Develop frontend services with React, Node.js and TypeScript and integrate with Ruby/GraphQL backends
- Adhere to principles of performance, scalability, and resiliency; take strong end-to-end ownership
- Contribute to testing, test review, and certification of software prior to release
Education
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Relevant professional software development experience in lieu of formal degree accepted
