Responsibilities
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations under supervision
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans with mentor oversight
- Assist and scrub in for surgeries and surgical prep
- Participate in management of medical cases and wellness care
- Document patient encounters with timely SOAP notes and medical records
- Practice and refine client communication and case explanation skills
- Follow professional standards, clinic policies, and veterinary supervision rules
Education
- Enrolled in an accredited DVM (Veterinary) program
- Familiarity with your state Veterinary Practice Act and supervision requirements
- Current professional liability insurance (e.g., AVMA PLIT for students)
