Overview

Provides family-centered patient care to critically ill patients that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused. Supervises the delivery of patient care and manages shift operations in a critical care unit. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental/unit standards.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily planning, assessment, and decision making to provide the resources necessary for the provision of safe, high-quality patient and family care.
  • Maintains clinical expertise by providing direct patient and family care, working with staff on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Collaborates with the department leadership team in the management of personnel.
  • Demonstrates and promotes accountability, communication, relationship management, teamwork, and collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Oversees daily operations in the critical care environment to ensure appropriate staffing resources and clinical competencies are available for the critical care patient population.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree BSN required and 2-5 years experience required; Pediatric/neonatal critical care experience preferred. or
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $37.96/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
