Description
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Supervisor (Head Teacher) is responsible for providing childcare and facilitating child development activities for the children within Katy’s Place, CGE’s childcare development center. The Program Supervisor (Head Teacher) will coordinate the daily activities in the childcare center to meet the physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs of the children; actively communicate with his/her coworkers, supervisor, and the parents of the children on child development matters. The Program Supervisor (Head Teacher) is the designated responsible person in the absence of the Program Manager.

8.) Actively participate in CGE's clinical research efforts by ensuring accurate and timely reporting for all assessments and evaluations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Provide daily care and supervision of infants and children under the direction/ supervision of the Program Manager.
• Provide supervisory oversight of daycare staff and serve as designated responsible person in the absence of the Program Manager.
• Meet the physical, social and medical needs of infants/children assigned, including but not limited to feeding, changing, dispensing of medication, stimulation, playing, etc.
• Assist in monitoring and documenting of information related to feeding, changing, sleeping and playtime schedules as well as observations of child's behaviors and developmental milestones.
• Provide monitoring and documentation of the dispensation of medication and any medical concerns or conditions the child may present.
• Ensure the development and implementation of daily activities designed to meet the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs of the children.
• Assist in monitoring and documenting of information related to feeding, changing, sleeping and playtime schedules as well as observations of child's behaviors and developmental milestones.
• Inform the Program Manager of any incidents that may impact upon the child's development or safety.
• Assist the Program Manager in the planning and implementation of curriculum according to the age and developmental level of the children.
• Coordinate staff schedule and ensure that all physical safety requirements and proper staff ratios are met in accordance with DCF licensure.
• Coordinate the involvement of outside individuals and organizations in the planning and implementation of special events and activities.
• Maintain records as required by organization policies, regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Provide Early Relational Health team information regarding child’s progress in terms of physical, social, emotional and psychological growth.
• Contribute to the childcare and development treatment plan for each child.
• Provide documentation and follow-up instructions to mothers regarding significant events and needs of the child while in the childcare setting.
• Recognize and reports any signs of child abuse and/or neglect as specified in N.J.A.C. (10:122 6.6).
• Maintain knowledge of and implement emergency procedure requirements, including first aid kits, training in infant CPR and First Aid, fire drills, disaster evacuation planning etc.
• Implement all environmental sanitation requirements for disinfecting, including all furniture, diapering surfaces, medical supplies, feeding materials etc.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Prepare and deliver oral and written reports to Program Manager as indicated.
• Maintain records as required by organization policies and regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Participate in childcare team conferences for development, review and revision of care plans.
• Participate in and prepare child(ren) for appropriate discharge upon completion of the program.
• Participate in clinical training program(s) as indicated; receive required trainings as mandated by DCF licensure.
• Participate in program evaluation and ongoing efforts to enhance quality of services.
• Participate in weekly supervision with the Program Manager.
• Receive required trainings as mandated by DCF licensure, as well as additional agency training.
OTHER:
• Work as a member of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for, and communication with residents and clients.
• Work in a consistently professional manner at all times, which includes, but is not limited to, treating all residents, clients, staff, guests, and volunteers with dignity and respect.
• Perform other duties as directed.
Requirements
• 21 years of age or older.
• Must have one of the following qualifications, or the ability to meet these qualifications within two years:
- Master’s degree in education and six credits in Child Education and/or Child Development with one (1) year of experience. - Bachelor’s degree in education, Psychology, Health Care or a related field and six credits in child education and/or child development and two (2) years of experience.
• Current CPR certificate. If not available, certificate must be furnished within 60-days of employment.
• Supervisory experience.
• Prior experience in childcare preferred.
• Team-player outlook. Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to be flexible to the daily changing needs within the community and to handle obstacles with compassion and resolve.
