Birth Doula - Contractor

Cayaba Care is a mission-driven maternity care organization focused on improving pregnancy, birth, and postpartum outcomes for underserved communities. We are seeking a certified Birth Doula contractor in the Memphis/Shelby County area to provide two prenatal visits and in-person labor support, partnering with our care team to deliver culturally sensitive, trust-based care.

Skills

  • Valid doula certification and demonstrated knowledge of childbirth processes
  • Non-medical pain management techniques and labor comfort measures
  • Breastfeeding support and mother/baby bonding guidance
  • Clear, compassionate communication and cultural sensitivity
  • Comfortable using telehealth platforms and EHR documentation systems
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to client births

Responsibilities

  • Conduct two virtual prenatal visits per client to build rapport, review birth plans, and teach labor positions and non-medical pain management techniques
  • Be on-call to provide in-person support during active labor and delivery
  • Communicate and coordinate with Cayaba Care team members and medical providers to escalate clinical issues and social needs
  • Document all client interactions accurately in the assigned EHR/telehealth platform
  • Support postpartum bonding and provide breastfeeding and recovery guidance during immediate postpartum period

Education

  • Valid Birth Doula certification (required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Additional lactation or breastfeeding counseling certification (preferred)
