Skills
- Active veterinary technician certification or licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT)
- Clinical experience in surgical and dental nursing, anesthesia monitoring and recovery
- Competence with common diagnostics, medication administration and recordkeeping
- Strong client communication and education skills
- Ability to triage and respond to urgent/emergency cases
- Comfort working with veterinary technologies and willingness to learn AI-assisted tools
- Ability to work rotating 10-hour shifts and function well in a fast-paced team environment
Responsibilities
- Patient handling, monitoring, and husbandry during appointments, procedures, and hospitalization
- Surgical and dental nursing including anesthesia preparation, induction, monitoring and recovery
- Medication preparation and administration, IV catheter placement and fluid therapy
- Performing and processing diagnostic tests and documenting results in medical records
- Client education and communication regarding treatments, medications, and home care
- Emergency triage, stabilization and escalation to veterinarians as needed
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure accurate charting
- Participate in monthly CE, mentorship, and quality-improvement activities
- Collaborate with on-staff specialists and remote nurse support to manage complex cases
- Use and pilot clinic technologies and AI-assisted tools to improve patient care workflows
Education
- Veterinary technician certification or licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) required
- Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program or equivalent clinical training preferred
- Willingness to participate in ongoing continuing education (CE) and mentorship programs
