At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Test & Launch Engineer to join our Launch Operations team at Blue Origin. This role is responsible for developing, leading, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures for integrated avionics subsystems, ground support equipment (GSE), and spaceflight systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic production environment, excels at troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and is committed to the highest standards of safety and technical rigor. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the integrated system testing of launch vehicles, ensuring quality and reliability for human spaceflight missions. Leveraging advanced methodologies and instrumentation, you will play a critical role in validating avionics systems and maintaining Blue Origin’s commitment to mission success.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shifts: A | Mon-Thurs (6am-4:30pm), B | Mon-Thurs (2pm-12:30am), C | Fri-Sun (6am-6:30pm), D | Fri-Sun (6pm - 6:30am)

  • Location: Example: Space Coast, FL

  • Relocation: Available

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.

  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.

  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and test processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.

  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing and test documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.

  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing and test technologies and methods (e.g., advanced instrumentation, automated test equipment, precision measurement).

  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.

  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.

  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines, equipment, and test setups.

  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise

Test & Launch Engineering sits at the heart of Blue Origin’s launch and spaceflight systems, turning design intent into hard data and flight confidence. Our team architects and executes integrated test campaigns for avionics, GSE, and flight hardware - from board-level bring-up and subsystem verification to full vehicle and pad‑level tests that clear the way for launch.

We don’t just run procedures; we design smarter ways to test. You’ll help develop and refine automated test systems, data acquisition architectures, and instrumentation strategies that increase coverage, speed, and confidence for every mission. Technical depth in areas such as digital/analog electronics, power systems, communications, sensors, DAQ, and test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools) will help you quickly become a subject matter expert on your systems and drive meaningful innovation.

Safety and mission assurance are our north star. You’ll apply rigorous test engineering and safety‑by‑design principles to validate systems that must work the first time, every time-enabling a high launch cadence while protecting crew, payloads, and ground personnel. Engineers who thrive here combine strong technical judgment with a passion for solving hard problems and the excitement of seeing their work fly to space.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting test teams as a vehicle system operator, test conductor, Test & Launch Engineer, or console operator.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware related to avionics, electrical, or control systems, with the ability to read schematics and layout designs.

  • 1+ years of experience developing English work instructions or test procedures.

  • Ability to support off-shift, extended hours, and weekends as required for mission milestones.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing and integrating vehicle electrical systems, including ground support equipment and electrical hardware.

  • Intermediate experience in developing and verifying instrumentation installation and operation procedures.

  • Background performing wiring installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for large systems.

  • Experience with automated test equipment, calibration, and configuration management.

  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals for electrical design and verification, including test readiness and operational excellence.

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems or tools such as Dewesoft.

  • Prior experience applying AS9100 quality standards in a test environment.
