Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Summary:

• The Clinic Evaluation Nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect physical, psychosocial and spiritual care for patients with cancer and other related disease processes
• The oncology nurse will also act as the patient’s advocate and educator
• Performs and documents initial and routine assessments and evaluations on oncology patients
• A resource to patients and families and directs them to the appropriate support services
• Performs the skills required to care for oncology patients receiving chemotherapy
• Provides coordination of services across the continuum of care.
• Attends/engages in continued education opportunities related to oncology care annually

Requirements:

• IA RN or PN license (or compact state)
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience
• Oncology Certification (OCN) is preferred but not mandatory
• Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certification required prior to completion of orientation/chemo administration

Schedule:

• 72 hrs a pay period
• M-F
• 7:30a-5p (4 days per week) or 8-4:30 (4 & 5 days per 2 weeks)
• The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department
