Job Description

The Rooms Controller is a key member of the Rooms Operations team, responsible for maximizing room revenue, managing inventory, and overseeing the accuracy of reservations, forecasts, and daily operations. This role ensures that Bishop’s Lodge achieves occupancy and revenue goals while delivering a seamless guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily room inventory, ensuring accurate forecasting, availability, and pricing across all distribution channels.

  • Monitor reservations, cancellations, and room assignments to optimize occupancy and revenue.

  • Collaborate closely with Front Office, Reservations, and Sales teams to ensure room availability aligns with operational needs.

  • Analyze market trends, occupancy patterns, and historical data to make informed recommendations for pricing and inventory management.

  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports on occupancy, revenue, and forecast accuracy.

  • Identify opportunities for upselling and maximizing room revenue.

  • Support the team in audit, reporting, and reconciliation of room charges and inventory discrepancies.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment of operations with overall property goals.

  • Train and mentor front office staff on proper room management procedures and systems.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in hotel revenue management, front office, or reservations.

  • Strong understanding of room inventory management, revenue optimization, and distribution channels.

  • Proficiency with hotel management systems (e.g., Opera, Fidelio) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

  • Passion for hospitality and dedication to creating memorable guest experiences.
