Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
As the Head of Technical Program Management, you will provide executive leadership to drive strategy, execution, and transformation across complex technical domains. You will lead and develop a high-performing organization, partnering closely with engineering, product, and business leaders to deliver business-critical programs and solutions at scale. This is a highly cross-functional role with broad influence, responsible for breaking down technical barriers, strengthening systems, and ensuring the success of major initiatives across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap across multiple domains or business units.
Program Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, cross-functional technical programs, including initiation, planning, execution, forecasting, budgeting, and delivery.
Stakeholder Management: Partner with senior engineering, product, and business leaders to align technical programs with business objectives and priorities.
Team Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of TPMs and TPM managers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Systematic Problem Solving: Take a systematic approach to solving highly technical engineering problems, including prioritization, scoping, and progress tracking.
Technical Influence: Leverage deep technical understanding to influence architectural decisions and drive progress on critical engineering challenges.
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience (typically 12+ years) in product management, technical program management, engineering, or related leadership roles within leading technology companies.
Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering large-scale, complex technical programs.
Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical programs.
Deep technical understanding of modern systems, architectures, and platforms (coding not required, but must understand system flows, APIs, etc.).
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
