R&D Test Engineer
Skills
- Experience building and using data-logging systems (National Instruments/DAQ, Linux-based logging)
- Scripting for test automation and data handling (Python or similar)
- Data visualization and test reporting/documentation skills
- Intermediate CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo, Onshape or equivalent)
- Electrical assembly and soldering (PCB rework/repair)
- Mechanical assembly and fabrication using hand tools and shop equipment
- Experience with 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLS, SLA)
Responsibilities
- Specify, assemble, and maintain test equipment and data-collection infrastructure to meet project objectives
- Set up and conduct development testing for robotic subsystems and generate clear test reports
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers to create test plans and document failure modes
- Perform electro-mechanical assembly and integration of prototype components, harnesses, PCBAs, sensors, and actuators
- Build and maintain test fixtures, rigs, and data-logging systems (hardware and software)
- Operate fabrication equipment including 3D printers and machine shop tools to implement fixes and prototypes
- Observe, document, and communicate issues; implement design modifications and repairs as required
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- At least 2 years experience in a laboratory or workshop environment assembling mechanical and electrical hardware
