What You’ll Do

Lead and Manage the AI Engineering Team:

• Guide, mentor, and support a growing team of AI engineers.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and innovation while helping each team member reach their potential.

Drive Strategic AI Initiatives:

• Partner with engineering and product leadership to define and execute Apptegy’s AI strategy.
• Align technical efforts with business goals and ensure AI capabilities enhance user experiences across our product suite.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Serve as the key liaison between engineering, product management, design, and leadership teams.
• Translate technical insights into business value and ensure smooth communication across functions.

Project Execution & Delivery:

• Keep projects moving forward through clear direction, accountability, and prioritization, adhering to timelines.
• Remove blockers, communicate progress, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of AI-driven features.

Technical Oversight:

• Provide technical leadership in AI design, architecture, and integration.
• Ensure AI best practices for security, ethics, observability, and clean code are adopted across the engineering organization.

Mentorship & Growth:

• Champion professional development for your team — coaching engineers by reviewing code, collaborating on design documents, offering constructive JIT feedback, performing annual reviews, and identifying growth opportunities aligned with both individual and organizational goals.

What You’ll Bring

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Proven success leading high-performing engineering teams delivering production AI/ML, GenAI/LLMs, or Agentic AI systems at scale (high availability, low latency, strong security, and compliance).
• Expertise in Python and modern GenAI/LLM architectures(e.g., LangChain, LiteLLM, Langfuse) and how to apply them in production environments (RAG, fine-tuning, cost optimization, etc.).
• Experience driving the design and implementation of large-scale initiatives for multi-tenant SaaS products
• Experience working in high-growth environments and comfortable balancing tactical and strategic considerations
• Exceptional verbal and written communication to foster collaboration between engineering, product management, design, and leadership teams
• Deep understanding of agile methodologies/mindset and experience facilitating agile ceremonies
• Quality first mindset that focuses on thorough and thoughtful code reviews, limiting defect rates, and improving system performance
• A growth mindset and passion for developing people and fostering innovation.

What Helps You Stand Out

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, our core tech stack.
• Experience with AWS with Certifications ( Solutions Architect, AI Practitioner, Machine Learning)
• Exceptional Technical Leadership: Your ability to provide clear technical direction, mentor engineers, and effectively communicate complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic Problem-Solver: You don't just solve problems; you anticipate future AI trends and strategically position the product suite and engineering organization to capitalize on them.
