About the Team

The nuclear affairs and operations team at Antares is responsible for nuclear operation design, licensing, and nuclear project development Antares reactors. We are nuclear engineers who joined Antares from advanced reactor vendors, national laboratories, and top universities. We're here because of the mission: making nuclear power available anywhere it's needed--on Earth and beyond.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Controls teams to design and implement the Human Machine Interface for Antares reactors

• Evaluate user needs, mission requirements, regulatory requirements to ensure end products are developed to industry standards and support system deployment

• Develop an intuitive interface for reactor operations that meets nuclear safety standards and facilitates rapid plant deployment

• Ensure the Antares reactor plant HMI is user-friendly, efficient, and meets user needs

• Coordinate with the Antares design teams to conduct usability testing, gather feedback, and troubleshoot issues

• Develop maintenance and upgrade programs to update and refine HMI systems in order to ensure optimal performance and user experience

• Write and maintain test code that interfaces with DAQs and C&DH systems of commercial and custom in-house design varieties

• As needed, aid design engineers with I&C component/vendor selection, system-level peer-review, synthesis of nuclear environments, simulation/model correlation

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or a related technical field

• 2+ years of experience testing and developing instrumentation and controls systems in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other high reliability environments

• High proficiency working with DAQ modules

• Experience with Python programming

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience developing Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for nuclear reactor operations

• Working proficiency with C/C++

• Working proficiency with PLC programming

• Experience with ethernet and serial devices interfaces in an industrial controls context

• Demonstrated ability to write clear test plans, procedures, and reports, and to communicate findings to multidisciplinary engineering teams

• Nuclear reactor operator experience

Location

• We are located in Torrance, CA in a 145,000 square foot, brand new facility featuring large open spaces for team collaboration, R&D, and production, as well as easy access to the 405, 105, and 110 freeways. Our facility is in the heart of Los Angeles' vibrant emerging tech ecosystem alongside many other high growth startups and enterprises.
