Amidon Heavy Industries is a venture-backed startup transforming subsea inspection and monitoring. We build autonomous surface vessels (USVs) that autonomously launch and recover remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to perform high-frequency inspections of subsea pipelines, telecom cables, and offshore infrastructure. Our system operates at a fraction of the cost of traditional crewed vessels, unlocking scalable, real-time subsea awareness for the first time.
We are hiring an Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of the electrical systems that power and control our next-generation autonomous surface vessel. You will take a proven prototype and evolve it into a robust, product-level platform capable of meeting the performance, safety, and regulatory standards required for real-world deployment.
This is a foundational role where you will own the vessel’s electrical design and integration, ensuring reliable operation of propulsion, power distribution, sensors, and autonomy hardware. You will work closely with naval architecture, mechanical, and software teams to deliver a system that can be manufactured, certified, and deployed at scale.
Design and implement vessel-wide electrical systems including power distribution, propulsion, and sensor integration
Develop wiring diagrams, harnessing, and electrical layouts that meet performance and safety requirements
Define and validate power budgets and ensure systems operate reliably in dynamic marine environments
Select and qualify components for reliability, manufacturability, and compliance
Work with classification societies and regulatory bodies to ensure electrical systems meet relevant standards
Support at-sea testing and troubleshoot electrical issues under real operating conditions
Collaborate with manufacturing partners to translate designs into production-ready systems
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in electrical design for marine, aerospace, robotics, or other mission-critical systems
Strong knowledge of power distribution, control systems, and electrical safety standards
Proficiency with CAD tools for electrical schematics and harness design
Experience with integration of propulsion, sensors, and embedded systems
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certification processes for electrical systems
Experience in marine or unmanned vessel systems
Background in high-reliability or mission-critical electrical systems
Hands-on experience with shipyard or production environments
Track record of taking electrical designs from prototype to delivered product
