About the role

We’re looking for someone who can unlock our mobile development and make our cross-platform vision a reality. You'll be a critical member of the team who will enable us to ship a performant, delightful product across web and mobile.

In this role, you'll:

• Build an incredible React Native component system from the ground up, working at the earliest stage of a startup as a member of an experienced team

• Translate product and design requirements into beautiful, performant, scalable interfaces that look and function with as high quality on mobile as they do on desktop

• Integrate mobile and desktop experiences seamlessly into native platform APIs while handling platform-specific edge cases

• Design and implement offline-first sync, GraphQL caching strategies, and optimistic updates for enterprise-scale data

• Work directly with our Head of Design and Experience Engineering who has deep design and frontend expertise - you bring the technical depth to complement design excellence

• Collaborate heavily across product, design, and engineering throughout the product development process

• Work effectively in a fully remote environment with a mix of Zoom and asynchronous collaboration

• Continuously learn new technologies and take on diverse challenges with a "life-long learner" mindset

• Participate in the interview process for engineering candidates, helping us maintain our "A-team" standards

Experience

Our tech stack includes Google Cloud, Go, Kubernetes, Postgres, GraphQL, and Expo + React/React Native. We follow an API-driven development model to ensure functional parity between the UI and the API.

We don't expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect deep React Native expertise and the ability to solve complex performance challenges.

Strongly preferred experience:

• Proficiency in React Native

• Performance optimization at scale

• Experience with optimizing React Native components for web

• Complex state management (GraphQL, offline sync, real-time updates)

• Data visualization libraries (D3, Charts.js, Recharts)

• Accessible, WCAG-compliant mobile applications

Bonus experience (valuable but not required):

• Expo deployment

• Native iOS or Android development experience

• Background in security best practices for mobile applications

• Experience with animation libraries (Lottie, Skia)

• Knowledge of mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for React Native apps

• Experience with performance monitoring tools
