As a Sr. Principal, Platform Architecture – Teamcenter, you will enable systems-based design, modeling, development, validation, and transfer to downstream operations that ultimately result in the launch of new medical devices that preserve, protect and restore sight for millions of patients. You will be expected to provide technical direction to the team, and guidance to the customer base on the application of tools and best practice methodology within Alcon R&D, IT, Manufacturing, Quality and many other functions to design and implement solutions that serve to streamline the way we work including but not limited to technical development, validation, technology transfer, and ongoing lifecycle management / support for our products. Success in this role will require direct and indirect leadership of a customer-oriented team with the ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level.

As Sr. Principal, Platform Architecture - Teamcenter, you will be primarily responsible for leading the design, configuration and support of product lifecycle management using the Siemens Polarion & Teamcenter applications. The architect will work with the business and/or business facing IT teams to determine optimal design and methods to meet the business needs at our Fort Worth, Texas location. Specifics include:
Solution Design & Architecture:
Create and maintain architectural blueprints, functional / technical specifications, and design documents for Teamcenter solutions. Provide solutions that meet platform and IT compliance standards.
Configuration & Customization:
Oversee the installation, configuration, and customization of Teamcenter's client (e.g., Active Workspace) and server-side components, including BMIDE, workflows, and data models.
Integrations:
Design and implement integrations between Teamcenter and other enterprise applications, such as CAD (Mechanical Computer-Aided Design) systems, PLM, and ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) tools.
Technical Leadership:
Guide to development teams, mentor junior architects, and ensure the technical implementation aligns with industry best practices.
Stakeholder Communication:
Effectively communicate technical strategies and solution designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Partner with vendors, and internal IT teams to oversee the upgrades and deployment of Siemens Teamcenter modules.
Data Migration:
Plan and execute data migration activities, often involving ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Problem Solving:
Analyze complex business challenges and develop effective, innovative solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
7 Years of Relevant Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience architecting and configuring the Siemens suite – Polarion and Teamcenter. Deep knowledge of Polarion & Teamcenter modules (e.g., Requirements Management, Risk Management, Standards Management, Change Management, Document Management, BOM), architecture (n-tier), data models, and configuration (BMIDE).
Experience with Teamcenter customization tools and frameworks, such as ITK, SOA, RAC, and Active Workspace.
Familiarity with web services and integration frameworks (e.g., AIG, eQube) for connecting with third-party applications.
Understanding data migration and ETL processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the planning and executing complex Teamcenter implementations and upgrades.
Ability to understand business processes and map them to technical solutions to drive digital transformation.
Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
Experience with validation of GxP applications preferred.
Experience in regulated industry (Medical devices) preferred.
