SUMMARY:
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for all procurement and shipment activities for a project-based, custom equipment, engineering and fabrication business in a highly regulated environment (NQA-1). The successful candidate must be organized, detail oriented, highly motivated and passionate about driving rigor and diligence in the procurement and shipping & receiving groups to support unprecedented growth. Responsible for managing the entire flow of raw materials, components and services from raw materials to the final product delivered to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead all procurement and material management activities and personnel including purchasing, shipping/receiving and kitting, inventory control.
Drive philosophy and realization of having “required materials, where needed, when needed”.
Collaborate with other departments to establish and provide an effective supply chain. Develop staffing plans and structure group as needed to support volume and nature of work expected.
Establish performance metrics for suppliers for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain and ATG supply base. This includes but is not limited to metrics such as on-time delivery, accuracy of order fulfillment, cost competitiveness, etc. with an expectation to act on the data.
Develop fluency in company ERP system and maintain accurate inventories of materials and supplies.
Analyze current methodologies, procedures, suppliers, and procurement strategies. Based on business and project dynamics, develop and drive improvements to help increase efficiency of supply chain and improve profitability for the company.
Foster a continuous improvement culture. Use your can-do attitude and Lean experience to challenge, enable, and empower employees to develop and implement changes and develop policies and procedures to eliminate waste and improve on time delivery, cost, quality, and safety.
Assess the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; implement means to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
In collaboration with operations, identifies and develops detailed inventories of common raw materials and components that should be held in inventory to optimize operations and minimize lead times.
Monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements, all while continuing to strengthen those relationships.
Facilitate commercial and technical assessments to qualify new suppliers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages purchasing, kitting, shipping/receiving resources.
Hires and trains new supply chain personnel.
Oversees the day-to-day workflow and schedules of the department.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience as supervisor, manager or director in a supply chain role.
Minimum of three years of experience with ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions, ERP a plus).
Experience working in a highly regulated production environment, i.e. AS9100, FDA, NQA-1, etc.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Understanding of logistics and partnerships with suppliers to optimize supply availability.
Insight into market dynamics and the impact on raw material and component pricing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to understand custom engineering and fabrication as it relates to procurement and supply chain needs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and occasional fumes. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hearing protection is provided as needed.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OTHER:
Prior training in Lean Manufacturing and work experience in a Lean environment is highly desirable.
